The 2024-25 NBA season is approaching quickly, and fans are eager to see what the Brooklyn Nets will look like ahead of the year's start. Brooklyn's squad retains many contributors from the previous year, but the franchise has experienced a shift that will open doors for young players to make a larger impact. Nets fans will get a glimpse of what the squad looks like when the team takes on its training camp, media day, and exciting preseason matchups.
Brooklyn will hold part of its 2024-25 training camp in Southern California, as it did in 2021, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post. The team's camp will kick off on Oct. 1 in Brooklyn and finish in San Diego, near the site of their first preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Speaking of which, all four of the Nets' preseason games were announced in early August. Brooklyn will face the Clippers on Oct. 8 and travel back home to play the Washington Wizards on Oct. 14. Then, the Nets go across states to Philadelphia to play the 76ers before ending their preseason run against the Toronto Raptors back at Barclay's Center on Oct. 16.
Before any of these matchups, Brooklyn has its media day on Sep. 30, where players will share thoughts and answer reporters' questions ahead of the season. Players will also take part in team pictures and other events for their squad's needs.
Nets finalizing roster for training camp
Brooklyn made numerous roster moves in late September to prepare for camp. They signed several young players including CBA star Yongxi "Jacky" Cui, former lottery pick Killian Hayes, and G League standouts Tyrese Martin and Amari Bailey. In addition, the Nets signed Patrick Gardner and requested waivers on him so he could join the Long Island Nets.
Outside of these new players, the Nets are bringing back a host of promising contributors. Two players who look like starting-spot locks are Cam Thomas and Nicolas Claxton. However, the three other starting spots are up in the air. Cameron Johnson, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Noah Clowney could fill the spots. But others like Jalen Wilson and Ziaire Williams could make a strong case to get increased roles.
The overwhelming amount of young talent on Brooklyn's roster is a good problem to have. Nets fans will get to see who Brooklyn looks to rely on during their preseason games in October.
