After a 32-50 season that saw the Nets miss the playoffs for the first time since 2019, Brooklyn made major changes in the offseason, most notably trading Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks for a bounty of future draft capital. As a result, the Nets 2024-25 season can be expected to be a youth movement, and fans will get their first look at the revamped roster with a slate of four preseason games.
Fans can expect to see a heavy dose of second-year forward Jalen Wilson, fresh off being named the MVP of Summer League after averaging 21.8 points per game on 55 percent 3-point shooting. Noah Clowney, another second-year player with major two-way potential, also figures to see heavy minutes. Cam Thomas, a prodigious scorer now in his fourth season, will look to take the next step in the development of his all-around game. The health of Ben Simmons is also something to monitor as the season approaches, as the three-time All-Star and 2018 Rookie of the Year is coming off his second back surgery in the last three years.
More than anything else, the upcoming season will be about seeing which players fit into the long-term vision for the franchise, and the preseason is a great opportunity to begin this process. The full preseason schedule can be found below, via the team's official Twitter account.

The Nets will kick off the four-game schedule on October 8th in San Diego, where they will face off against the Los Angeles Clippers. They will then return to Brooklyn to square off with the Washington Wizards, another team in rebuilding mode. Two days later, the Nets will visit Philadelphia to take on Joel Embiid and the 76ers before concluding the preseason back at home versus the Toronto Raptors.
Ticketing and TV information for the Nets preseason games has yet to be released. The NBA regular season is expected to tip off on October 23rd, and the full schedule will likely be published in the coming weeks.
