The Brooklyn Nets acquired Dennis Schroder in a deadline trade with the Raptors. It was their chance to dump Spencer Dinwiddie and get a talented guard. Schroder averaged 14.6 points, 6.0 assists, and 3.5 rebounds in 32.0 minutes per game over his 29 contests in Brooklyn. Schroder likely joins Cameron Johnson on the trade block, but he remains on their roster for now.

Schroder is the starting point guard and leader for the German National Team. He helped his country win the 2023 FIBA World Cup as he took home MVP honors. Schroder was also the flag bearer for Germany during the Olympics opening ceremonies. The Germans have been preparing for this games for years and are ready to win the gold.

Germany had a strong start in Paris with a 97-77 win over Japan. Dennis Schroder was running the offense and had his country looking like the toughest test for Team USA.

Dennis Schroder produces double-double in win over Japan

Schroder got off to a strong start in Olympic play as he finished with 13 points, 12 assists, and two rebounds. He made just one of his six 3-point attempts but was five of six from 2-point range in his 28 minutes of action.

Schroder was setting up his teammates and had Germany playing at an elite level. Franz Wagner led them in scoring with 22 points. Daniel Theis had 18 and Moe Wagner chipped in 15 in the dominant performance.

Point differential matters in what teams advance into the knockout stage, so putting up a 20-point edge over Japan was massive. Germany won every quarter and absolutely dominated.

Dennis Schroder and Germany have a continuity edge over Team USA

Schroder is leading the same team that played in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. There was even a dust-up between the Nets point guard and Maxi Kleber over the Mavericks big man wanting to join the squad for Paris. Germany believes in playing for your country every year and that gives them a massive edge over Team USA.

The Americans have more talent, but the German's togetherness will make it tough. Germany is the defending world champ for several reasons, and they won’t relinquish the crown easily.

Dennis Schroder and Germany are back in action on Tuesday against Brazil before closing out Group Play on Friday versus France. The Germans will be favored in both games and need two impressive performances to keep pace with the world’s best. Do not miss it as Schroder promises to put on a show.
