Kyrie Irving served the Brooklyn Nets for three-and-half seasons and was one of the most tantalizing point guards in franchise history. The Nets traded Irving to the Dallas Mavericks in February of 2023 after his contract negotiations with the front office went sour. Still, he saw success in the borough that remains relevant in 2024.

Irving and superstar backcourt partner Luka Doncic led the Mavericks to the 2024 NBA Finals, and after Dallas added Klay Thompson during the offseason, the team is ready to compete even harder.

Through his first four games with the Mavs in 2024-25, Irving averages 23.8 points, 5.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. Moreover, his three-point shooting accuracy is the highest it has been since his 2021-22 stint with the Nets.

Irving is shooting a white-hot 52.8 percent from range to start the season, compared to his previous highest average of 41.8 in 2021-22.

Of course, it is still very early, and Irving's percentage will likely even out. But his accuracy is a promising sign for the Mavericks. Nets fans who are watching Irving's early success from afar are likely cheering him on.

When will Irving return to Barclay's Center in 2024-25?

Kyrie Irving will make his 2024-25 Nets homecoming on Monday, March 24, 2025. That dateon the schedule is the Mavericks' first matchup of the season with Brooklyn. Irving went off the last time the two teams met in 2024.

On Feb. 6, Irving traveled to Brooklyn to take on the Mikal Bridges-led squad. The star guard finished with a strong 36 points and five assists, shooting 60 percent (6-for-10) on his three-point attempts. 2024's Mavs-Nets matchup will be sure to be action-packed again, and it will hold even more significance.

Spencer Dinwiddie was one of the main pieces included in February 2023's trade that sent Irving to Dallas. Dinwiddie found himself back in the borough after a stint with the Washington Wizards and one and a half seasons with the Mavs. Ironically, Dinwiddie became Irving's teammate again after signing with Dallas during the 2024 offseason.

Thus, March 2025's Brooklyn-Dallas matchup will feature Irving and Dinwiddie, two of the most significant guards in Brooklyn history. Nets fans planning to attend in person will be in for a real treat and a competitive matchup between contributors of the past and the new Brooklyn age.

Kyrie Irving is on a mission to help the Mavs win a championship, and fans cannot help but be happy for his newfound success after Brooklyn.
