Who said so many threes were a bad thing?
BSE Global and National Grid track every three-point shot made by the Brooklyn Nets, Long Island Nets and New York Liberty in regular season home contests to make an impact in the community. The two organizations partner with others throughout the greater Brooklyn areas to plant trees, form gardens, present donations and clean green spaces, up to as many as the total number of three-point makes between all three franchises within the BSE Global umbrella.
"Threes for Trees" by National Grid claims that the impact of even just one acre of tree coverage in Brooklyn could absorb the same amount of carbon as a car driving 8,700 miles through the year. This community effort started back in 2011, as the Nets organization began planting trees between Branch Brook Park in Newark and Fort Green Park close to Barclays Center.
The announcement of this green initiative featured former Nets center Darryl Dawkins, Nets dancers and the now-retired Sly the Silver Fox mascot. Fast forward to 2025, Cameron Johnson and D’Angelo Russell are now the most helpful contributors to this cause when available, averaging 3.4 and 2.8 three-point makes per home game, respectively.

Nets forward Trendon Watford told the New York Post late last year that head coach Jordi Fernandez wants the team to shoot 50 threes per game, and that’s exactly how the team would prefer to play anyway. Brooklyn is currently averaging 38.9 three-point attempts per game through 48 outings, converting on 35.3 percent.

That’s a lot of green in Brooklyn thanks to Beef Jerky Joe.
