The 2019 NBA All-Star notched his second 40-point game roughly five weeks after his first, on his 23rd birthday no less, bullying the Hornets with 40-7-2-1-1 in 35 minutes. With a field goal percentage at 45.2 and three-point percentage at 40, this was the worst shooting night among his performances of 40 or more points.

March 2019 provided Russell's best game in a Nets uniform, on the road against Sacramento. It was a 44-point, 12-assist double-double on the Kings, alongside four rebounds and four steals. Despite five turnovers, Russell still finished a +13 on the evening, his best plus-minus with more than 35 points.
